Shantell Jackson-Burns
DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC
Shantell Jackson-Burns is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who is a clinical instructor and the program coordinator of the BSN to DNP PMHNP program at Louisiana State University School of Nursing. She teaches the APEA Review Course & Clinical Update for PMHNPs. Dr. Jackson-Burns also practices at Ally Mental Health, a private mental healthcare practice she established in 2019. Her 13+ years of PMHNP practice include positions in correctional healthcare and an acute mental health unit. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and several national and state NP organizations, including the Association of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Lori Gardiner
DNP, APRN, FNP, PMHNP-BC
Lori Gardiner is a nurse practitioner who is earned dual certification in psychiatric-mental health and family health. She teaches APEA courses for PMHNPs. Dr. Gardiner is an associate professor of nursing at Nicholls State University and has clinical experience in women’s health, critical care, emergency care, family practice, and occupational health. In addition, Dr. Gardiner is a major in the United States Army Reserves and serves as the officer in charge of unit operations and training for the 7242 Medical Support Unit in Gulfport, MS. She has received the Humanitarian Service Medal for work during the COVID pandemic, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, The Global War on Terror Service Medal, two Army Reserve Components Achievement Medals, an Army Service Medal, and an Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Dr. Gardiner is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Live Course Guarantee
In the unlikely event you are not successful on your first exam attempt, we provide a repeat course for free. Simply email questions@apea.com send the CE Certificates obtained from the APEA review course verifying attendance and completion of all review course materials prior to sitting for the certification exam. In the email, state whether you’d like to attend another live course or receive access to the course on video.
Payment Info
- Click the Registration button and check “Make a deposit” on the Payment Information section to make your minimum deposit of $200.
- Make future payments in any amount and at any time.
- Pay the balance in full 10 days prior to the course start date.
Recording Policy
Video or audio recording of any portion of a live course is a violation of federal law and is prohibited. Violators will be removed from the course and will not receive a refund.
Live Course Webinar Cancellation Policy
All cancellation requests must be made via an email sent to questions@apea.com. APEA will provide a one-time transfer to a different course at no charge. Cancellations received more than 2 weeks before the course start date will incur a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received within 2 weeks of the course start date will incur a $200 cancellation fee. No refunds are provided to registrants who do not show up for a course. In the highly unlikely event that an APEA course is canceled, APEA will issue a full refund.
Attendance Policy
To earn and obtain contact hours for a live event (review course or continuing education course), you must attend 100% of the event. Partial credit is not provided, per our CE accreditation body. If you are unable to attend a portion of a live review or CE course, you must notify us in advance. After the course, you will be able to see the content you missed by watching the Bonus View of the event recording. Contact hours are not awarded for any portion of a course that is missed. Refunds are not provided for no shows at any review course or continuing education course. In addition, course transfers are not available after a no show at any review course or continuing education course.
Registration And Admission Policy
APEA reserves the right to accept or decline an individual’s registration for a live course. In addition, APEA reserves the right to prohibit entry of, or to remove, any person (whether registered or not) whose conduct or attendance is not in keeping with the character and purpose of an APEA live course. Without limiting the foregoing, APEA reserves the right to remove or refuse entry to anyone who has registered or gained access under false pretenses, provided false information, or for any other reason APEA deems is cause under the circumstances..
